چکیده
Background: Gamma‑glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) is a membrane‑bound enzyme, which not normally expressed in oral epithelial tissues. The present study evaluated salivary gamma‑glutamyl as biomarker squamous cell carcinoma and precancerous lesions.Materials & Methods: 78 subjects were divided into 3 groups of 26 each. Group I healthy subjects, group II had lesions III (OSCC). In all unstimulated saliva samples collected subjected to estimation enzyme. Results: 13 males females, 20 6 females 18 8 females. mean GGT level was 16.4 IU/L, 52.6 IU/L 73.2 IU/L. difference significant (P< 0.05). Conclusion: Salivary gamma-glutamyl transferase higher increased patients with OSCC premalignant lesions, thus can be used effectively tumor marker.

Background and Objective: Oral cancer is one of the 10 most common cancers in the world and its global outbreak is increasing. Saliva assessment is one of the non-invasive diagnostic methods for this cancer. The aim of the study was to achieve a comprehensive conclusion about changes in salivary antioxidants in patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the mouth (OSCC). Materials and Methods: I...

Background and aim: oral cancer is one of the most common cancers of the head and neck. Considering the high prevalence and mortality percentage of oral cancer and the significant advances in immunology and identification of different cytokines, the aim of the present study was to compare the concentration of IL8 in saliva of patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and healthy subject...
متن کاملSalivary analytes in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma.
Literature data indicates that measurement of certain salivary constituents might serve as a useful diagnostic/prognostic tool in the patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). In 24 patients with OSCC (60 +/- 2.5 yrs) and in 24 controls (24 +/- 3.7 yrs) we have determined levels of salivary magnesium, calcium, copper, chloride, phosphate, potassium, sodium, total proteins and amylase. ...
متن کاملClinical Significance of Salivary Biomarkers in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Review
Background and Aim: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) accounts for approximately 3% of all cancers worldwide, and if diagnosed early, it has a five-year survival rate of around 85%; however, a late diagnosis may decrease the survival rate to 50%. Aberrant expression of several genes is associated with the hallmarks of OSCC including uncontrolled cell proliferation, poor differentiation, invas...
